On June 7th, 1882 a meeting of gentlemen was held at Dick's Hotel, Balmain to consider the advisability of forming a rowing club for the district of Balmain. At this meeting The Balmain Rowing Club was formed and a picturesque site at White Horse Point was chosen to build a clubhouse. Balmain Rowing Club still operates today and from the same clubhouse.
Exactly 134 years later Balmain Rowing Club is very proud to be able to make available the first ever BRC minute book, including the minutes of this inaugural meeting.
