JB Sharp Balmain

The JB Sharp Series kicked off on 7 July with Balmain being the first club to host a regatta in this very special year of the 100th anniversary of the series. Bucking the curse of the Balmain 'old' course, the water was smooth, the wind low and the rain took a break until the last boat was across the finish line.

What a regatta it was with Balmain's women's crews leading the charge. The women's intermediate quad coming in 2nd in a tough field, the 8+, coxed by Arno and stroked by Niki coming in 2nd as well as an amazing win by the novice quad coached by Michael Kemp in their first ever race. Michael MacCormick made it safely across the line in 5th position in the Game of Thrones battle that is the Men's handicapped single - where some rowers didn't even make it off the start line.

A massive thank you to all the volunteers for the food prep, course set-up, tinnie and safety boat drivers, zootie supplies and getting all the Rowing NSW officials what they needed. It takes a village to make these regattas happen. We couldn't do it without you and, you all showed the club off at it's best.
