Peter Kemp Sculling Classic 2024

The second annual Peter Kemp Sculling Classic, hosted by BRC, was held on Sunday 1st September 2024 on the Hawkesbury River. The weather gods shon down on us as the terrible wind that had been causing havoc across the country subsided for just long enough to give us a beautiful morning for the race.

Thank you to all who participated. There were some tricky tide turns and the wind picking up, but everyone finished strong and partied afterwards. Congratulations to all our event and overall winners!

Returning to defend his title Marcus Della Marta once again set an incredible pace and took away the Peter Kemp Trophy and the $500 prize money. Trudy MacDonald from Lake Macquarie RC won the inaugural Fernie Kemp trophy along with the prize money.

A number of Balmain athletes entered the gruelling race. Keeping it in the family young Noah Kemp, aged just 13, won the fastest sculler in a wooden boat with wooden oars much to the delight of his father.

Michael MacCormick and Andreas Heger also won the MM2x.

A massive thank you to our BRC volunteers and support from Rowing NSW and the Windsor Paddlesports Club and to our major supporters Patterson Pools, Hillbilly Cider and Rowfit international.

We look forward to seeing you back in Hanna Park in 2025.
