William Beach

Balmain people take a special pride in William Beach from the fact that our oldest local Rowing Club, the B. R. C., were the first to show cordiality to William Beach, and in the earliest days of his rowing, when many were inclined to look down on the unknown blacksmith from the little town of Dapto, situated no one knew where, they extended the right hand of fellowship and membership, This recognition Beach reciprocated by wearing the club’s colours as his own and through all his successes the Champion of the world has carried the now well known black and yellow of Balmain in all his hard fought victories on the Parramatta and the Thames. The club and the borough may well be proud of their honorary member.
